This Day in History: 1941-11-22

8th East Lancashires and 9th Loyals convert to become respectively 144 and 148 Regiments of the Royal Armoured Corps. A small cadre of officers and men in each regiment come from the Armoured Corps. All the rest are old East Lancashires and Loyals. They continue to wear their East Lancashire and Loyals cap badges on the black berets of the Armoured Corps. In December the Regiments are equipped with Churchill tanks.
