This Day in History: 1943-03-21

1st Loyals relieve 2nd Lancashire Fusiliers at a position called the Basin, at the apex the defensive perimeter around Medjez-el-Bab, Tunisia. Facing them is an elite Wehrmacht Division, the Herman Goering. Over the next month the battalion suffers its first casualties, from both enemy action and friendly fire, since being evacuated from Dunkirk almost 3 years before.
