This Day in History: 1800-11-15

After 158 often storm-tossed days at sea since leaving England, including being part of a failed raid on Cadiz, both 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 40th Foot (later 1st South Lancashires) arrive in Grand Harbour, Malta. They are to take over garrison duties from the 30th (later 1st East Lancashires) and 89th Regiments, releasing them to join Sir Ralph Abercromby’s expedition to Eqypt.
