This Day in History: 1900-02-15

After 124 days of siege, Kimberley, garrisoned by 4 companies of 1st Loyals, is relieved by Sir John French’s Cavalry Division. ‘Kimberley Day’ has been commemorated by the Loyals Regiment and its successors ever since. Every year, to this day, Loyals veterans lay a wreath at the Kimberley Memorial in the Regiment’s home town of Preston.
