This Day in History: 1809-11-13

Flank companies of the 47th Foot (later 1st Loyals), drawn from the Bombay Garrison, form part of a British Expeditionary Force sent from India which sacks the Arab pirate stronghold of Ras Al Khaimah on the Pirate Coast of the Persian Gulf. Warehouses and fortifications ashore are destroyed, and over 50 pirate vessels in the harbour are burned.
