2nd Loyals, again devastated by sickness, finally depart from German East Africa on posting to Egypt, via Aden. 5 sick soldiers die on the voyage. 2 months later in Egypt, 295 officers and men out of a total strength of 822 are still in or attending hospital. Over 250 Loyals remain behind in East Africa, serving as machine gunners or on detachment to other units, or in hospital.
