This Day in History: 1694-09-06

Castleton’s Regiment becomes Saunderson’s (later 30th Foot and then 1st East Lancashires), when Lord Castleton retires and the Colonecy is passed to his son, Thomas Saunderson, who had previously been senior captain. The Regiment is in Bruges, with the English army fighting for King William III (William of Orange) in the Nine Years War.
