Italy. Following an erroneous report that the Germans had withdrawn, and unsupported by artillery, 1st Loyals attack the Fiesole Ridge, north of Florence. Although they take Monte Ceceri at the eastern end of the ridge, they are ordered to withdraw to prevent unnecessary casualties. 3 MC’s, 1 DCM and 4 MM’s are won, and the Regiment is awarded the unique Battle Honour ‘Fiesole.’
