This Day in History: 1944-06-06

D-Day. Fox Troop, 318 Battery, 92nd LAA Regt (formerly 7 Loyals) lands at mid-day under orders to reach Benouville at all costs, where its anti-aircraft guns are needed to protect the vital Orne River bridges captured by Paratroops during the previous night. Disregarding  sniping, shelling and mortaring, they make it to the outskirts of the village, where they come under sniper fire from the houses, so they fire their 40mm Bofors anti-aircraft guns directly at short range into windows and doorways.
