This Day in History: 1915-02-23

18,000 people line the streets to give the Accrington companies of the Accrington Pals (11th East Lancashires) “a real good send-off” as they depart for training at Caernarfon. Fog signals are sounded as the trains leave the station. Later in the morning there are similar enthusiastic send-offs as the Burnley and Chorley companies leave their home towns.
