This Day in History: 1945-01-04

Battle of the Bulge. 13th (Lancashire) Battalion, Parachute Regiment (formerly 2/4th South Lancashires) continues it’s battle for Bure, Belgium. Close-quarter fighting continues all day, although at one point a Tiger tank commander allows a British ambulance to evacuate wounded. As dusk falls the Paras are patrolling in the German-held area, even sometimes sharing buildings with unsuspecting enemy.
