Battle of the Bulge. 13th (Lancashire) Battalion, Parachute Regiment (formerly 2/4th South Lancashires) ordered to assault the Belgian village of Bure, furthest point reached by the German armoured break-through. Strongly defended by an enemy force which includes Tiger and King Tiger tanks, the Paras suffer heavy casualties but fight their way over open ground into the village houses.
