55th (West Lancashire) Division, with 1st/4th and 1st/5th South Lancashires, and 1st/4th Loyal North Lancashires, mounts successful surprise assault on the Givenchy Craters. On the old 1916 Somme battlefield 5th East Lancashires (the Burnley Territorials), in 42nd Division, press the enemy back across the Ancre to take Miraumont and some 500 prisoners.
