This Day In History: 1944-06-06

D-Day. Given high priority because of the expected air threat, Recce parties from 93rd LAA Regt (formerly 8 Loyals) land within the first 90 minutes to establish locations for the Regiment’s guns. By the end of the day, eight Troops from three Batteries are ashore, with another in reserve afloat, and defending Gold, Juno and Sword Beaches. They are equipped with 54 Oerlikon and Polsten 20mm triple mountings, half of them mounted on Crusader tank chassis.
