This Day In History: 1945-02-12

Germany. 1st East Lancashires, effectively surrounded in the Reichswald Forest, fight off increasingly heavy enemy attacks as the Germans pour in reinforcements to try and recapture their Seigfried Line defences. Every man, whatever his job, who can handle a weapon stands to as the whole battalion holds its ground against repeated attacks on all sides. Only when the rest of the brigade closes up in the evening does the pressure ease.
