  • 1900 2nd Boer War. Ladysmith relieved after a siege of 118 days. In the place of honour at the head of the relieving column marched the Dublin Fusiliers, who had distinguished themselves at Colenso, and the South Lancashire Regiment, for their "magnificent charge" at Pieters Hill the day before which finally opened the way.
