1805 Malta. Private William Williams, 81st Regiment (later 2nd Loyals)  stabbed and killed by Giovanni Vassallo following an argument about non payment for wine.
1831 After 12 years of duty on the island, 82nd Foot (later 2nd South Lancashires) embarks at Port Louis, Mauritius, under orders for England.
1899 2nd Boer War. Ordered South to the war,1st South Lancashires depart Fulwood Barracks, Preston
